Go Up to Object Inspector

Many objects work together with other objects. When you are setting the properties of one, it is convenient to be able to set the properties of the other. For example, a Panel component may have a pop-up menu associated with it such that when you right-click the Panel, a menu is displayed.

Some properties are component references, which are components that are properties of another component. To continue the example, the PopupMenu property of the Panel component is a component reference. If you add both a Panel and a Popup menu component to your form, you can set Panel1’s PopupMenu property to PopupMenu1.

After the property is set, while still selecting the Panel component, you can set PopupMenu1’s nested properties in the Object Inspector by clicking the plus (+) sign on the left side.

On the Events page, you can also display the events of the referenced component. Events that reference a second component are dark red and the events of that second component are green, by default.

By default, in the Object Inspector, properties that reference a second component are dark red and the properties of that second component are green, by default. Properties that are interfaces can also be referenced inline.

To enable the expanded inline component references on the Properties and Events pages, choose Tools > Environment Options, click the Object Inspector page, and check both the Expand inline and Show on events page check boxes.
